Following a major water main break at Carriage Place Apartments, the Pontiac Community Foundation (PCF) quickly mobilized to support residents facing an unexpected crisis.

When water and electricity were disrupted, PCF stepped in through its M1 Mobility program to help transport residents to local hotels—ensuring families had access to safe, stable accommodations during a difficult and uncertain time. This rapid response helped remove immediate barriers and provided critical support when it was needed most.

In the midst of the crisis, the community also reached an important milestone.

After months of collaboration, a Save A Life Station has officially been installed on-site at Carriage Place Apartments—bringing life-saving resources directly into the community. This addition ensures that residents have immediate access to tools that can make a critical difference in emergency situations.

“It’s been a long time coming, and seeing this station finally here is a win for safety, access, and hope,” said Dustin McClellan, Founder and CEO of the Pontiac Community Foundation.

This effort was made possible through strong partnership with the Pontiac Housing Commission, Alliance Coalition for Healthy Communities, and Lighthouse. Together, these organizations are working to improve both immediate response and long-term safety for residents.

From crisis response to proactive investment, this moment reflects PCF’s ongoing commitment to showing up for the community—meeting urgent needs while building a stronger, safer future for Pontiac.
