As a member of the Alliance of Coalitions for Healthy Communities, we are focused on preventing alcohol and drug use among youth, promoting mental health, and providing outreach and support to the greater Pontiac community.

Pontiac Community Foundation serves backbone and hub of Prevention Pontiac, an Oakland County substance abuse prevention coalition. All Oakland County substance abuse prevention coalitions are part of a connected network of the Alliance of Coalitions for Healthy Communities (ACHC). The mission of ACHC is to strengthen collaboration among community partners and mobilizing community wide efforts to promote a healthier Oakland County through prevention, recovery, and support.

The Pontiac Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition receives funding from ACHC to maintain programming and staffing for the program, as well as technical assistance, education, and support alongside 21+ community prevention coalitions across Oakland County. The coalition is a subsidiary of the Pontiac Community Foundation to assist with start-up support, including nonprofit status, staffing support, financial management, and board oversight.

157 businesses received vendor education to prevent the sale of alcohol and tobacco to minors

Prevention Pontiac Advisory Board

Prevention Pontiac is supported through the work of its cross-sector advisory board. These individuals represent a wide variety of interests and roles within the Pontiac community and provide valuable perspectives and insights that guide substance-abuse programming in Pontiac.
