Pontiac Community Foundation believes strongly in the importance of valuing our community and supporting the residents who call it home. We believe this begins with developing spaces for people to gather and connect with one another. No one embodies this vision more than Mattie McKinney Hatchett – a community leader, activist, and trailblazer for the city of Pontiac.
In 2021, we were able to break ground on the new Mattie McKinney Hatchett Park with a grand opening ceremony slated to take place in Fall 2022. We are excited to redevelop this park into a new community space for residents of all ages. Our hope is that this park will create ways for families to connect, expand recreational activities, and provide equitable opportunities to positively impact the quality of life for residents.
The park will feature:
- New outdoor fitness equipment
- Playground equipment
- Walking paths and renovated sidewalks
- New park seating
- New basketball courts and multi-sport court
- Soccer field and open play area
- Updated signs and branding
